The learning material, the phase overview and the PMI Exam Content Outline 2025 describe the same method. They do not share a structure. The learning material works in phases, the exam in 5 domains and 37 tasks.

Exam
Works in domains and tasks
5 domains, 37 tasks
Whoever moves between them has to translate each time. That costs study time. In the exam it costs points, because a scenario question describes a situation and expects you to know which task it belongs to.
Each structure does its own job well. What is missing is a mapping between them, and that is what the Roadmap provides.
Four parts that you use side by side.
The 6 phases form the columns, the 5 ECO domains the bands. Domain I runs across every phase. The other bands show where each domain has its focus.
| ECO domain | Focus |
|---|---|
| Domain I, Support Responsible and Trustworthy AI Efforts | Across all phases |
| Domain II, Identify Business Needs and Solutions | Business Understanding |
| Domain III, Identify Data Needs | Data Understanding, Data Preparation |
| Domain IV, Manage AI Model Development and Evaluation | Model Development, Model Evaluation |
| Domain V, Operationalize AI Solution | Model Operationalization |
01
The exam thinks in domains and tasks, the learning material in phases. The Roadmap shows for each task where it happens in a project, which makes scenario questions readable.
02
The Roadmap is an executable checklist for real AI initiatives.
In the 12-week PMI-CPMAI coaching the Roadmap is the working tool. Each domain session works on the tasks of one domain, and the Roadmap shows where they sit in a project.
The next cycle starts on 11 November 2026.
